Is There a "Right Time" to Teach Our Children About the Bad Happenings in the Real World?

Ah, the end of another day. And today was a very trying day. KBug was just off kilter from the moment she woke up this morning and it kind of went downhill from there. But we've survived, and I'm feeling accomplished. The sink is (mostly) empty, the laundry is (almost) done, KBug is (hopefully) sleeping and I am drinking a (full) glass of wine. It's a good night.

But anyways.

Mr. Boston is (kind of obviously) originally from Boston. And being from that area he is a huge New England Patriots fan. And if you haven't been paying attention to the news, there is a huge story about one of their players.

"Real" Single Mom?

Today is Tuesday. And today being Tuesday, and the end of the day, means I have officially survived seven full days without my Gramma in the house. And that, my wonderful friends, means that I've actually survived running this household on my own for an entire week.

I have been told on numerous occasions that I'm not a "real" single mom because I live with a family member and I don't pay rent. Well, true, I live with my Gramma and I don't have to pay rent to her. But I do pay for all of my own groceries, covering myself, KBug and PJP. I also pay my own car bill and KBug's tuition for school. Neither of those were easy to do this past year while I was only working 5-10 hours per week in order to get further ahead in my studies so I can graduate this fall. But I never missed a payment.

Oh No! I Sound Like My Mother!

Ever since I was a little girl, I wanted to be a mom. I used to play mommy to my dolls and cart them around pretending they were my children. I played house with the kids from my mom's in-home daycare. I pretended that one Barbie was mom while a second Barbie (of the exact same size) was the child. Maybe I was a weird kid. I don't really know.

I do know that I wanted to be a mom, though.

I also know that I wanted to be nothing like my mom.

PJP Made It To Graduation!

It's 7:51AM on a Saturday morning. I've been awake for an hour.

Why is it so hard to wake up early during the school year? But then, once it's summer time, I'm up early every day, no matter what time I go to sleep?

Ridiculous.

Anyways. That's not what I wanted to write about this morning. Granted, I shouldn't be writing at all this morning because, well, my mother is flying in today and I have to pick her up in a few hours and because my house is a disaster and we are having people over tomorrow.

Why is my mom flying in and why are we having people over?

PJP is graduating on Sunday!

KBug's Night Owl Birthday Sleepover [Pictures]

Ok, let me break it down for you.
  • It's been almost a full week since KBug's birthday party and I haven't written a post about it yet.
  • I've spent the past several hours working on a Marketing paper.
  • KBug will be home from school in just a few short hours.
Basically, I'm going to take this opportunity to write a blog post because, well, it's likely the only opportunity I will get for the next few days. Our lives have gotten so chaotic now that we are headed on towards summer and I love it! But it is leaving little time for things like my own schoolwork which completely puts blogging on the back burner. I'm going to do my best to keep it all up, though, even with extra time outside, yard work, more play dates and what seems like continuous baking for a couple of guys who now have no problems what-so-ever with my love of Pinterest because that's where I am getting all of my recipes.

Growing Up Right Before My Eyes

Tomorrow is KBug's 7th birthday.

Seven.
My baby is seven.
I don't like this growing up, getting older thing she's doing.
Anyways. So she's going to be seven, whether I like it or not. I'm just going to have to get used to it. And by the time I get used to her being seven and a second grader, she'll be turning eight and getting ready for third grade and so on and so forth for the rest of her life.

This is the part of being a mother I'm not sure I like.
But, what can I do?

A Look Back at KBug's First Year

So I was going through the photos on my Gramma's computer last night and came across a number of them from KBug's first year of life. The computer I had all of those saved to when she was younger crashed and we weren't able to get them off the hard drive to transfer to my new laptop. I thought I had lost them.

How is it possible that I have lived with my Gramma for over 5 years now and not realized she had these pictures?
Pretty ridiculous, if you ask me.

But now I have them, and I thought I would give you a look at KBug when she was younger. Not that she isn't still young, because I know she is even if I'm beginning to feel old, but she was just so little! It's hard for me to imagine that my little baby is going to be seven years old in just a matter of days. It's beautiful and baffling all at once.

Always Learning, Always Growing

Well, yesterday and today were emotional days for me. Not emotional in the normal sense, though. A typical emotional day involves some sort of anger, sadness, despair, desperation, moodiness, etc.

Well, my emotional day was not that.

Build a Child Up Today

Third quarter at the school is over and report cards have gone home.

And I'm happy to say that I only sent home one failing grade. I'm not happy about the failing grade, but I'm happy that there was only one of them.

Crazy, right!?

A Theatrical Cast

This is definitely not the first blog I've ever started. I have written many posts under a number of different blogs. But this is the first one that I really feel is going to be different. I may not post all that often, but I will post what is on my mind. I won't guard things for fear of offending others. I won't keep things to myself as much. I will be open and honest and love my writing because that is really what you're supposed to do. You should write what you feel. So, here I go with what is on my mind right now.
